Žil jednou v malém městečku jménem Lanškroun král, který měl všude kolem sebe jen zlato, diamanty a drahé šperky. Byl to mocný a vážený panovník, který se věnoval spravedlnosti a dělal vše pro blaho svých poddaných. Jednoho dne se do země dostala zpráva o zvláštním pokladu nazvaném Zemská koruna. Legenda pravila, že je to magický předmět, který dává svému majiteli neomezenou moc a štěstí. Král byl zvědavý a rozhodl se korunu nalézt a povznést své království k ještě větší slávě. Rozhodl se vydat na dlouhou cestu sám, aby neohrozil život svých věrných, a brzy dorazil do temného lesa, kde se měla koruna nacházet. Cestou potkal starého mudrce, který mu vyprávěl o nebezpečích, která ho čekají a o zkouškách, které musí překonat. Král se vydal dál a brzy se ocitl v hlubokém údolí.
